But winter wedding make-up should be different from the make-up you would ordinarily use at a wedding at other times. The natural look for bridal make-up is one that works best for winter weddings.

If you are very pale, then do use a bronzer to be brushed over the face after foundation is applied. If your skin tone is warm consider gold, bronze, toffee and cocoa shades for your eyes.

Other bridal make-up ideas would be to go for cool colors: for eyes choose silvers, gray, pewter and mushroom shades; for the lips use raspberry reds, rose-pink shades or burgundies.

Winter weddings have different needs and requirements to summer ones and it does not make sense to expect them to look the same.

Firstly, the scenery will look different in winter. Instead of the soft shades of summer the scenery will be much stronger with bold contrasts. Often in the winter the sky looks almost white and the bare trees almost black in contrast. Evergreens are present and the grass and hedges will appear darker in winter.

Obviously the weather will be much colder and consideration must be given to some sort of cover-up for the bride whether it be a velvet cloak, fur shrug or shawl or thick lace bolero. Her gown will need to be made of heavy, luxurious fabric for warmth. If you are getting married in winter you may wish to think outside traditional bridal colours and consider some colour in your wedding dress, whether it's just in the embroidery, the bodice or from top to toe. Deep reds, burgundies, purples and evergreens can look striking against a winter background. If you want to be more traditional and marry in white, consider these colours for the bridesmaids, men's ties or cravats, flowers and other decorations.

Much consideration needs to be made to your bridal make-up. In winter your skin and that of your bridesmaids is likely to be lighter. The natural lighting will usually be dimmer than summertime and you will need a slightly more striking make-up look rather than a light summery one if you are to look your most beautiful on the day and in the photographs.

Make sure your foundation is as near to your own colouring as possible. It should even out your skin tone and keep your face looking fresh and youthful but should not turn you orange! If you are very pale a natural shade of bronzer can be brushed over the entire face after the foundation has been set with loose powder.

If your skin tone is warm consider gold, bronze, toffee and cocoa shades for your eyes.

Your cheeks will need a blusher with a warm tone. Although a light peachy shade might work in the summer, go for something with a little more depth for winter, such as a deeper coral or nutmeg. For your lips try a striking terracotta, cinnamon or warm red but if you feel these are too heavy for your colouring and bridal look go for a more subtle, sheer coral or copper.

If your skin tone is cool you will need less of a golden look and more of the cool tones. For eyes choose silvers, grey, pewter and mushroom shades. Your blusher will need to be a medium to deep pink or mauve unless you are very fair and then a delicate pink will work. For the lips again the look needs to be cool so try raspberry reds, rose-pink shades or burgundies.

Here are some skin care tips a bride can use to promote and maintain beautiful looking skin in advance of her actual wedding day.

This article focuses on a few homemade skin care facial masks with natural wholesome ingredients that should be part of a bride's pre-wedding beauty regime (or any woman's for that matter)!

Bridal Shower Idea:What better way to have fun taking care of your skin, then to throw a spa party at home so that you can pamper yourself and your bridesmaids and female wedding attendants.

Rose Cream Cleanser
1 tablespoon sour cream
1 teaspoon rose hydrosol
2 teaspoon extra virgin olive oil

Combine all ingredients in the order shown, stirring well after each one. Apply cleanser to face and neck skin, using gentle, upward sweeping motions. Rinse well. This recipe should be used within 2 days and makes enough for two cleanings.

Tone Up Tea
1 cup distilled water
1 heaping tablespoon dried green tea leaves
1 heaping tablespoon dried chamomile flowers
1 tablespoon rose hydrosol
1 tablespoon aloe vera gel
3 teaspoon apple cider vinegar
3 teaspoon lemon juice (optional addition for oily skin)

Heat distilled water until boiling. Remove from heat and add green tea and chamomile. Steep for 15 minutes and strain out plant material. Add rose hydrosol, aloe vera and vinegar (and lemon juice, if using) and stir well. Pour into a clean bottle and label. Shake well to ensure the mix. Store in refrigerator for best results and use within 3 weeks.

Aromatic Facial Oil
3 tablespoons jojoba oil
3 tablespoons rose hips seed oil (or 3 tbsp. hazelnut oil for oily skin)
2 drops rose essential oil
3 drops lavender essential oil
2 drops geranium essential oil
2 drops palmarosa essential oil

In a glass bowl or dish, combine oils with essential oils. Stir with a clean pop sickle stick or plastic utensil to combine. Pour into a clean bottle, preferably one with a medicine dropper so you can apply the oil using the dropper. After cleansing and toning, and while skin remains a bit damp, apply a bit of the moisturizer using gentle patting motions. Do not rub the oil into the skin. Rather, just gently pat it onto the skin and it will absorb readily within a few minutes.

Oats & Aloe Exfoliant
1 tablespoon finely ground oats
1 tablespoon finely ground almonds
1 teaspoon honey
1 tablespoon aloe vera gel

Combine ingredients in a bowl and stir until well mixed. Apply to face and neck skin after cleansing and before toner is applied, using gentle circular motions. Rinse well with warm water and gently pat excess moisture from face. Follow with facial mask.

Creamy Facial Mask
2 tablespoons white clay (recommended: kaolin)
3 tablespoons whipping cream
1 tablespoon rose hydrosol

Combine all ingredients together in a bowl and stir until a paste-like consistency is achieved. If mixture is too runny, add a bit more clay and stir. If mixture is not smooth enough, add a bit more hydrosol. Spread over clean face as the step immediately preceding application of facial toner, avoiding eye area and lips. Rest for 10-15 minutes. Rinse with warm, water and pat excess water from face.

1) Moisturise, Stay Hydrated While on Plane

Airplanes are notoriously famous for dehyrating the skin. Remove your makeup once you are on the plane, and apply moisturiser and lip balm. Avoid caffienated drinks, instead drink lots of water and juice to stay hydrated. This helps prevents chapped lips.

Besides cream-based moisturisers, it may be a good idea to pack additional hydrating beauty products, such as facial masks, spritzes and body and hand creams.

And don't worry if you are afraid of bringing on board heavy luggage. If you require more creams and lotions than can be held by the pithy 100ml containers allowed under the current air travel liquid, aerosal and gel (LAG) regulations, may want to pick up their beauty supplies at the airport. Purchases made inside the terminal are packed in security tamper-evident bags that allows them to be taken onboard.

Also, you may be able to purchase brands and items which are exclusive to travellers at the duty-free outlets, where prices can be up to 40 percent cheaper than they are elsewhere!

2) Pack Sunscreen

Always use a sunscreen with an SPF of 50 in climates where the sun is harsh. This is absolutely important if you are planning a destination wedding at a beach resort. Imagine chilling out the day under the sun before your wedding without adequate sunscreen protection in a hot and humid climate. The possible disaster scenarios could have the skin underneath your eyes burnt to a crisp, and red and inflammed skin elsewhere.

Cooler and dry climates can also affect the skin leading to dryness and itchy rashes. Always moisturise after a long day outdoors.

3) Lighten up your makeup in sunny and warm climates

In climates with high humidty and heat, it is advisable to lighten up your makeup so as to prevent break-outs. Be sure to maintain a careful cleansing routine while avoiding heavier skincare and make-up. Switch to a lightweight moisturiser, and use waterproof mascara or a light liquid blusher for a touch of color on those days just before the wedding.

Most weddings will include the showcasing of one song that will stand out as the couple's song, and usually the couple will dance to it at their first dance.

I have attended a few weddings that also had another way of showcasing a couple's wedding song. And that is through a video or slideshow montage presentation that is shown before the wedding luncheon or dinner reception. Usually, the presentation includes home videos and photographs of the bride and bridegroom showing the progress of their relationship from courtship to the wedding day. The presentation is set to a beautiful and evocative romantic song or music. If done properly, this presentation is a lovely way for the guests to share in a part of the couple's journey to marriage. It also makes a wonderful keepsake for the newly wed couple.

I came across this video recently, set to Josh Groban's Don't Give Up (You Are Loved). I absolutely love the song, and although he is singing about God's love, I think this is a great song to use in a wedding. However, the beat is not good for a first wedding dance song. But as the video below shows, it can be used for a video-photograph montage presentation.

The video showcases the progression of the relationship between two tv characters, Mulder and Scully, in the X-files. Some of the scenes are obviously dramatic, as they are taken from television. But I thought to include it here because (1) it demonstrates how it is possible to do a home video montage (or photograph slideshow) with this wonderful song and (2) I love the love story between these two characters who did not get together physically for many many years, yet building up their relationship in other ways that bonded them more strongly so that when they did get together, it was something lasting. Lovely. Now imagine your own relationship story in a 4 minute presentation - how would you do it?

I have always loved the elegance of Victorian-era wedding gowns and dresses. The wedding gowns then were usually designed to be modest in look, so that the bride exuded a demure beauty and grace that were becoming of brides in that time period. Overt sexy looks were not in fashion, and considered to be cheap! As an example take a look the what Queen Elizabeth of Englang wore at her wedding - a wedding gown that can still be considered beautiful in this day and age.

However, modern brides today want to look great (that is, overtly sexy) - and hence the off- shoulder gowns, the corset waisted styles and the fitted fishtail skirt designs are all in rage in many bridal gown shops. That leaves little options for the brides seeking a more modest, yet beautiful wedding gown.

I took some time to search the Internet for beautiful wedding gowns that are modest (long-sleeved or full skirts for instance) yet modernized enough to look elegant and not frumpy. I call them my Victorian-inspired and Medieval-inspired wedding gowns! :)

This one has a high collar, with inspired with a jacket design that isn't really a jacket. The sleeves are three quartered length with a full A-line skirt. Simple, smart looking wedding gown.

I like the idea of having a two piece wedding gown. A simple white A-line dress inside, and an elaborate heavy lace top piece with a long train. I would like to make the sleeves three quartered though, would make it look better, in my view.

This one is perfect for a bohemian themed wedding ceremony. It gives a feeling of a brode that is so light, flowing and happy. A young bride would certainly look great in this piece. The sleeves at the elbow area are cut in a way so that it almost flows into the long gown itself. Absolutely beautiful dress.

Full skirted Wedding Gown

Long sleeved laced wedding gown with a colored band around the torso. The skirt is full and reminiscent of the Victorian-era wedding gowns. The embroidered edgework around the hemline of the skirt also makes this piece beautiful.

But do not spread the word to more than one or two persons, becauase the more people who knows, the more likely your girlfriend will hear of it.

This may prove the hardest part because no matter how well you know your girlfriend, there will be items that she would, or particular clothes that she would like to being along, which you are not aware of. You can give her an advanced notice - be it half an hour before the trip, or an a few hours. but if you really want to pack for her, then get help from her best girlfriend or her mother!

When She Knows About the Trip

Do all necessary preparations before you depart for the trip. Do not wait until you arrive at your destination to plan the specifics of your wedding proposal. Make sure you do advance research to find the perfect place to make the wedding proposal. You can try calling the hotel's concierge to help you make dinner reservations at the most romantic restaurant at the destination, choose the best stretch of sand for a seaside-at-sunset wedding proposal, and order her favorite flowers for your room. At some of the high-end hotel resorts, there are actually romance coordinators who will help you come up with with the perfect wedding proposal.

Pack the ring, you may think this is trivial, but not doing so propoerly can end up ruining your surprise. For instance, if you will be boarding a plane, pack the ring in your carry-onluggage, and do not carry it in your pockets. This will prevent the airport security people from detecting the ring as you walk through the security. You do not want to havwe to remove the ring from your pocket in view of your girlfriend! Your carry-on should be loosely filled with nonsuspicious items. Think sweaters and a paperback book; not toiletries, pocket knives, or electronics that might trigger the screeners. And don't put the ring in a ring box -- if you do get called for a closer check and the security guard starts tossing your stuff, you're better off having the ring in a nondescript medium-sized box.

Now that you are on your way to your detination, you just have to let the suspense build. Anticipation is the key. Your girlfriend may be hoping that something is up - she may hope for a ring, but doesn't know for sure. You do not want to blurt it out while driving or flying to your destination. But you can be extra attentive to her without revealing the plan. Try not to propose on the night you arrive to your destination - let her anticipate the proposal, but also do not wait until the last day of trip to do it. She'll start to wonder if there is a proposal coming and might get upset waiting too long for it to come!

Regardless of what we think would be ideal, not all bride-to-bes have the luxury of taking time off work to plan their wedding. Whether you mean to or not, some of - and for some women, all - of your wedding will get planned during your work hours. The following article provides some tips on how you can best plan your wedding while balancing your work responsibilties.

1. Plan on your breaks. Whether that means hopping over to the baker for a cake tasting on your lunch break or making follow up calls during your twenty minute afternoon break. It’s your break, do what you want! *Note: If you plan right, a trip to the caterer for a tasting can double as your lunch!

2. Limit your planning time. Try not to check your email in the morning when you get to work because you might get sidetracked sending and answering wedding-related emails, and an hour or two will be gone before you know it! If you must do the planning right then and there, limit yourself to five or ten minutes, then get back to the real world and your job.

3. Take a personal day to plan and get things finished. Of course, you do not have to do it every week! But you would be surprised how much you can accomplish in a single day if you are productive. Look at it this way: you can spend one day getting ten to-do things crossed off your list, or, one hour every morning at work for the next month trying to plan, picking up where you left off the day before.

4. Don’t talk weddings at work. Even if you aren’t planning during work hours, people will think you are. Not to mention, you’ll drive the majority of the men nuts, anger a few women, and make the rest of the ladies jealous. So unless you work in the wedding and event planning industry, zip it while you’re on the clock!

5. Take the last few days leading up to your wedding off from work. You’ll still have a list a mile long of things to finish, and you can’t hardly focus on anything that doesn’t have to do with your wedding. Do your boss, your coworkers, and yourself a favor and give yourself a break! If you aren’t going to be productive at work, you might as well be productive doing wedding stuff!

Best of all, use your judgment. If you think you cannot manage to be planning while you’re working, don’t try!
